Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley are officially engaged, and apparently the singer went all out when choosing an engagement ring for the actress.
Reports initially emerged this week suggesting the couple were planning to tie the knot. According to PEOPLE, Margaret was wearing a diamond on her ring finger while attending Cannes Film Festival last week, which sparked the speculation. The actress was celebrating her latest movie Stars at Noon, which tied for the Grand Prix.
Representatives for the couple declined to comment on the engagement speculation at the time. However, Margaret appeared to indirectly confirm the news with a post to her Instagram.
Sharing a series of selfies of herself and Jack, Margaret’s supposed engagement ring was on full display as she hugged her partner from behind. “Oh I love him!” she captioned the sweet slideshow.
Many of the comments seemed to suggest the pair are engaged. “Sister Bride I love you guys so much!” the actress’ friend Sara Moonves wrote. “So excited to your guys,” Britt Robertson added with a heart emoji.
While it’s unclear who designed Margaret’s diamond sparkler, it’s suggested that Jack spent a small fortune to secure the ring. Neil Dutta, Managing Director of Angelic Diamonds, predicts the ring costs at least $34,500.
“The center diamond is approximately 1.30 carats and looks to be a D colored diamond, the highest grade diamond available,” Dutta explained.
He added, “It is clear that this vintage engagement ring holds a lot of meaning for the couple, and vintage-style rings have grown a lot in popularity over the past few years. I would estimate that the ring is worth $34,500.”
However, other experts predict the diamond ring may cost as much as six figures. Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, estimates the ring is around $100,000.
"Margaret's beautiful diamond ring looks to be 4 carats and I'd estimate the value is near $100,000 depending on the quality of the stone,” Fried explained. “The ring is made of either white gold or platinum and carries a timeless look," he said, adding: "With this artistic couple, the ring likely has some unique detailing near the diamond, giving it personal meaning and flair."
Jack and Margaret have been dating for close to a year. They were first publicly linked in August 2021 when they were spotted kissing in New York City. They made their red carpet debut this past March.
